It is with deepest sympathy, we announce the passing of Miriam Yvonne Brookins Ragland of Gadsden, who transitioned on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 68. We ask that you keep her children, grandchildren, siblings and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Miriam Yvonne Brookins Ragland was born in Gadsden, AL on November 4, 1955. She was the oldest of her mother’s four children and she was the second oldest child of her father's three children.
After graduating from Emma Sansom High School, she attended Gadsden State Community College. She married Jackie Louis Ragland with whom she has a daughter and a son. She worked 30 years as an Inspector for Fruit of the Loom now Parkdale Mills in Quality.
Miriam enjoyed fishing, shopping, gardening, crossword puzzles, cooking, and gathering with family and friends.
Miriam passed away on December 17, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Florine Battle, LV and Laura Wilson; her parents, James Thomas Brookins and Doris Florine Marshall; sister Becky Joyce Baker; and brother-in-law, Joe Willingham.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Tiffany DeRamus (Dewayne Burns), and Adrian (Amber) Ragland; stepdaughter, Kim Turpeau; grandchildren, Daijah DeRamus, Kolby DeRamus, Jayden Ragland, Jordan Ragland, Teagan Turpeau and Dallas Ragland; great-grandchildren, Kaidynce Norman and Omari Jones; siblings, Alfreda Willingham, Marcia Fenn, Terrie Brookins and Doris Felicia (Billy) Dupree; uncle, Edwin (Valencia) Battle; nephew, Marcus J. Baker and a host of family and friends.
