It is with deep sorrow and grateful remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved Nancy Thomas who left us peacefully in her home May 6, 2025, in Ashland, Alabama. Born on August 13, 1962. Nancy brought warmth and light into every life she touched. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and the love she spread among family and friends.
Nancy was the cherished daughter of Margaret Boyd and Calvin Searcy. She grew up supported by a large and supportive family. She had 23 siblings, 10 are now deceased: Mary L. Caldwell, Margaret A. Caldwell, Linda F. Caldwell, Barbara Newsome, Wilson Caldwell, Willie S. Caldwell, Jimmy Caldwell, Willie L. Caldwell, Rickey Searcy, and Robert Fleming. She is survived by 7 sisters, Linda G. Fleming of Ashland, Angie L. Beamon of Ashland, Brenda Esters of Detroit, MI, Lorene Caldwell Lyles of Ashland, Glenda Caldwell of Roanoke, AL, Lorine Searcy of Lineville and Mary Colvard of Atlanta, GA; and 6 brothers; Edward R. Fleming of Ashland, Melvin Newsome of Auburn, Calvin Searcy of Lineville, Cecil Caldwell of Ashland, Walter Nunn of North Carolina, and George Knight of Ashland; and a host of nieces and nephews she adored.
Nancy learned early the meaning of loyalty, compassion and unity. These defining qualities guided her throughout her life and continued as she nurtured her own family with endless care.
A devoted mother, Nancy is survived by her four loving sons, Nicholas Caldwell, Michael Thomas, Marty Thomas, and Gary Thomas. A legacy lives on through her 18 grandchildren and her great-granddaughter who brought her immeasurable joy. Beyond her immediate family, Nancy was a treasured aunt, grandmother and sister. Her presence enriched every gathering and whose love created bonds that will never fade. Nancy's home was a place of heartfelt laughter, tender memories and warm embrace, a sanctuary where family was always celebrated. Her life was dedicated to nurturing those around her. Her legacy is a testament to selfless love, deep compassion and unwavering commitment to family values.
We invite all who knew her to honor her memory by sharing stories of joy and love, celebrating a life well lived, and carrying forward her spirit of kindness and unity. Nancy Thomas will be dearly missed but never forgotten as her love continues to guide us each and every day. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may the memory of her loving heart remain with us forever.
