It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Mrs. Ninna Quinzy, of Gadsden, AL., who transitioned on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the age of 88. We ask that you please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Mrs. Ninna George Gamble Quinzy was born August 16, 1933, to the union of the late Louise Green and Jackson Gamble in Gadsden, Alabama. She departed this life on January 4, 2022, at her home.
She was educated in the Gadsden City School System, graduating from Carver High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama A&M College (University) in Normal, AL in Elementary Education specializing in Special Education. She also received a Master of Arts degree from Indiana University.
She taught in the public schools of Gadsden for over 30 years. It was her mission to give her absolute best to her students. Her former students always said she was their favorite teacher and gave their unwilling gratitude for her service in teaching.
In March 1968, she joined in holy matrimony with the late Rev. Johnnie L. Quinzy, to this union two beautiful daughters were born Alphia Denise Quinzy and Cynthia Diane Quinzy-Coleman.
Mrs. Quinzy confessed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined the St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Gadsden, Alabama. She served in the capacity of Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Organist for the Senior Choir, Missionary Society, Steward Board, Stewardess Board, Trustee Board, member of the Board of Christian Education, and served as President of the Anniston District Ministers’ Spouses.
As a minister’s spouse, she supported her husband’s ministry sharing her love for God and family with the congregation to which they were assigned.
Mrs. Quinzy was an active member of the Gadsden Chapter of the Alabama A&M University Alumni Association.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Ms. Alphia Quinzy, Gadsden, AL, and Mrs. Cynthia (William) Coleman, Huntsville, AL; the love of her life, granddaughter, Nadia C. Coleman, Huntsville, AL; sister-in-laws, Sarah Steed, New Boston, MI, Callie Turner, Bellview, MI, niece and nephews, Amy Clark; Huntsville, AL; David Clark, Huntsville, AL; Temeko Steed, Ypsilanti, MI; Qeivhon Steed; Ypsilanti, MI; Melvin Steed, Jr., MI; Harvey Miles, Jr., Buffalo, NY; other relatives, Rev. & Mrs. Pearson Miles, Moundville, AL; Bernice Murphy, Anniston, AL; Patricia Sledge, Anniston, AL; Terry (Vivian) Goggins, Anniston, AL; Earnest Goggins, Anniston, AL and a host of family members and dear friends.
