It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Oscar Sims of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at the age of 56.
Oscar Sims was born May 1, 1966 in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama to the union of the late Woodrow and Ludie Jane Heflin Sims. His formal education was received in the City of Gadsden, graduating Emma Sansom High School where he played basketball.
Oscar lived some time in Birmingham, Alabama where he was avid in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. He worked effortlessly in Outreach Ministry with the Salvation Army, often hitting the streets to witness to all he would meet. He was serious about winning souls to Jesus.
Upon returning back to Gadsden, Oscar worked for Tyson Foods until being unable to work. Oscar loved his family and always enjoyed a good laugh.
Oscar traded mortal for immortality on Sunday, September 4, 2022. He is survived by his sons, Danny Battle, LaDarius Brown, both of Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Kamille, Battle, Birmingham, AL; grandson, Callaway Brown, Birmingham, AL; brothers, Charles Sims, Wedowee, AL, Willie Larry Sims, Birmingham, AL; sisters, Sandra Roberts, Tuscaloosa, AL, Era Brewster, Gadsden, AL, Ethel Sims, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and dear friends.
