With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Ray Thomas Hollanquest of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the age of 74.
Mr. Ray Thomas Hollanquest was born on January 5, 1951 in Etowah County to the late Claude Hollenquest and Annie Ruth Pierce Hollanquest.
Ray was educated at Carver High School. He accepted Christ at a early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jolly Turner.
Ray was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Joanne Marshall Pierce; sister, Claude Mae Walker; brother, Randy Hollanquest; niece, Mynesha Hollanquest; nephew, Eric Walker, and a host of uncles and aunts.
On Saturday, August 23 2025, at 8:06 pm the Lord knew he was getting tired and called him home.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Mrs. Yolanda (Eric) Moragne, Attalla, AL, and Mrs. Chara Zatarain, Boaz, AL; son, Nana McKenzie, Gadsden, AL; grandchildren, DeMarcus (Donna) McKenzie, Xena Robinson, Carlos Zatarain, Kina Zatarain, Derek (Halin) Zatarain, Jason Zatarain; two great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Zamir Reynolds; two brothers, Johnny Hollanquest and Kenneth Eugene Hollanquest, both of Gadsden, AL; two uncles, James (Betty) Pierce, Jr., and Robert (Bettie), both of Gadsden, AL; three aunts, Annie Jo (Rufus) Bridges, Decatur, GA, Alice Simmons, Jonesboro, GA, and Debra Spear, Gadsden, AL; a special cousin/brother, Fred Pierce; special cousin/sister, Yolanda Pierce; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
