It is with heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Ms. Reba Joyce Smitherman of Gadsden, Alabama, who transitioned on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the age of 65. We ask that you please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Reba Joyce Smitherman was born April 4, 1956, in Shelby County, Alabama to the late Charles and Mary Smitherman.
She made her confession to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, where she served faithfully during her membership.
Reba was employed for almost 30 years at Holy Name of Jesus/Riverview Regional Medical Center where she was a receiving clerk. She also enjoyed working at London Bridge Daycare for several years before becoming disabled. She really enjoyed cooking and assisting elderly community members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Smitherman; siblings, Carrie 'Mick' Ragland and Bonita Bynum.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Royce (Tomasina) Smitherman, Bridgette Smitherman, Ava Lee, and Natasha Smitherman; sisters, Debra Prier, Linda Luker, Stephanie (Louis ) Groce, Mary Britton, brother Efrem Smitherman: 15 grandchildren, Dominique (Sylvia), Rauslyn, Brooklyn, Tamiah, Royce Griggs, Raekwon, Kiontae, Pearson, Ikaziel, Rajieara, Brashun, Dimitri, J'Montae and Martyona; 9 great-grandchildren soon to be ten; uncle, James (Maggie) Smitherman; aunts, Lillie B. Smitherman and Patricia Barnes; 8 nieces, Tamala, Crystal, Karen, Tara, Vareesha, Area, Whitley, and Kandice; 1 nephew, Courtney; special friends, Bettye Patterson, James Pierce, Jackie Terrell, Sarah Roden, and Darryl Luker, many cousins, friends, and others.
