With heartfelt sympathy we announce the earthly transition of Robert Lawson of Gadsden, who passed Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 84.
Mr. Robert Joe Lawson {Bobby) was born in Gadsden, AL on August 22, 1939. He was reared by his parents Mr. Raymond and Elizabeth Boyd in Mount Clemens, MI and graduated from Mt. Clemens High School with honors in 1957.
After graduation, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy, attended the Hospital Corps School, and received a degree in Phlebotomy along with a Good Conduct Award. Upon completion of Military duty, Bobby moved to Bronx, New York. He was employed at Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center for over 39 years.
When his health began to decline, he relocated to Gadsden, AL residing with his sister-cousin Alfretta Collins.
Bobby was an excellent cook always experimenting with new recipes to share with friends and neighbors, and enjoyed classical music, dancing, and shopping. He was very generous and always there to help others when in need.
An important accomplishment in his life was when Bobby began a diligent study of the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses learning about the true God, Jehovah, along with many other Bible truths and attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. One of his favorite scriptures is Acts 24:15, "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Bobby went to sleep in death on Sunday, September 24, 2023, with this hope.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Elizabeth Boyd. brothers: Earl, Raymond, Jr., and Ralph Boyd. Sisters: Barbara Estell and Darlene Knight.
He leaves to cherish his memories, brothers, Larry, Lenn, and Keith Boyd of Detroit. MI; Kaven (JoAnn) Boyd of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Penola and Debra Boyd of Detroit, Ml; cousins, Alfretta Collins and family, Campbell and Miller families of Gadsden, AL; special friends, Alba Figueras and Tanya Henriques families of New York, Geraldine Charles family of Georgia, Smith and Hockaday families of Michigan and employees of Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center.
