It is with deep sympathy we announce the passing of Mr. Roderick L. Derico of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the age of 52. We ask that you please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Mr. Roderick Levon Derico was born to the parents of Mr. Moses Lee Derico and Eleanor Louise Coleman in Etowah County, Alabama on November 7, 1968.
Roderick confessed Christ at an early age at Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Freddie Scott and later joined Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Scottie Rice.
Roderick has worked since he was 16, working with the summer program at Alabama Gas Company. He also worked at Popeye’s, Headstart, a welding company in Attalla. Roderick worked at Wayne’s Farms in Albertville until he became disabled.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Eleanor Derico-Cox; children, Roderick Derico Jr., Raven Symone Derico; stepchildren, Johnathan Davis, and Jasmine Guyton; special sister, grandchildren, Alyanna Davis, Jakyhi Amire Williams, Dayla Denise Derico, and Kyhadee Hill; siblings, Wilma (Ollie) Christmas, Moses L. Derico, Jr., Patricia Derico, Shirley Gerry, Reginald Gerry, Adrian Miliner, Ricky Guice, Johns Woods, Jr., James Anthony Derico; step-sister Carmen Sabrina Cox; Karon Robinson; aunts and uncles, Robert Coleman, Randall Coleman, Willie (Dorothy) Coleman, Ray Anthony (Annette) Coleman, Gwendolyn Hill, Jessica Coleman, and James Coleman; companion, Monia Dudley; special cousins, Latisa Coleman, Mary Ann Coleman, and Alma Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
