A Time to Be Born:
The late Ms. Sandra Jelks began her life journey to the parentage of Mr. Samuel Crawford and Mrs. Ora Jones on November 23, 1960.
A Time to Plant:
From her mere birth, Sandra earned her first nickname: Hair Doll, which she never lost; throughout the rest of her life, she became affectionately known as "Homey" and her social media name "Silver Rain" which she researched and derived from an extension of her Indian heritage. Sandra received her formal education from Collinsville High School where she was a proud graduate of the Class of 1979; she frequented her class reunions and was a favored classmate.
A Time to Serve:
Sandra confessed Christ at an early age and joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on Flanders Mountain; later she transferred her membership to Collins Chapel UMC. During her most recent years, she became a devout and faithful servant of the Lord through the vast capacities that she served in at Collins Chapel UMC: Communion Steward, Usher, Choir Member, Liturgy Participant, Sunday School Attendee, and Participant in the United Methodist Women projects.
A Time to Labor:
For most of Sandra’s life, she was the neighborhood babysitter where she cared for countless children in her home. In the most recent years, Sandra was happily and gainfully employed at Haymon Homes in Rainsville, Alabama for 9 years where she compassionately worked to meet the needs of the mentally and physically challenged residents. With this employment, it became evident that Sandra had a heart for helping others.
A Time to Cherish:
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Samuel Jones; two sisters, Mrs. Pearlie Mae Williams and Mrs. Florine Underwood; brother, Tony Jones, and grandparents: Mr. John and Mrs. Dora Croft and Mr. Chester and Mrs. Gertrude Jones, and a special and dear fiancé, Marion Smith.
A Time to Mourn:
Memories of Sandra will forever be cherished by her children: daughter, Kizzy Jones, Collinsville and son, Samuel Jones, Fort Payne; grandchildren: Jaila Thomas, Isaac Jones, Lei Jones, Ava Hancock, Emeron Havis, and Kaya Davis; loving and devoted mother, Ms. Ora Jones; her brothers: Frank (Donna) Jones, Sam Jones (Jr.), Tommie Jones; her sisters: Sinural Williams and Dillie Ann Jones Adams of Collinsville; aunts: Ms. Teresa Hope and Ms. Mittie Jones, Huntsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended cousins and relatives. Although Sandra loved all and all family and friends loved her, she shared a unique and special bond with her nephew Fredrick Williams and niece Serina Dupree.
