Sara Zeigler Obituary

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Sara Jean Pitts Zeigler of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age of 89.

Sara Jean Pitts Zeigler was born on December 26, 1935 to the late Charlie Pitts and Willie B. Young Pitts Rosser Allen.

She graduated from Cobb High School but considered herself a member Carver high school class of 1954.

She was a hard worker and great provider. She was an entrepreneur and a employee of many occupations. Home beautician, seamstress, factory, CNA, and PCA in home health, hospital, and nursing home, ran a  home  daycare, club and restaurant, with a “chicken wings” specialty before it was such a thing.

If she did not have a job, she would make one. She was not afraid of hard work. She did all this as a single mom. Her house was always clean and home cooked meals were a daily occurrence.

She had a hard and tough demeanor, but she would help others anytime needed.

She was intelligent, energetic, and well known and respected in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Pitts and Willie B. Rosser Allen; husband, Charlie Zeigler, Jr.; son, Cedric Pitts; sisters, Cynthia Rosser- Latham and Charlsie Pitts.

She is survived by her children, Loressa Pitts Ollison, Pensacola, FL, Ray Pitts, Los Angeles, CA, Vanessa Zeigler Hughes, Irondale, AL, Victor Zeigler, Gadsden, AL; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; a host of great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nellie (Mitchell, Atlanta, GA, Phylis (Fred) Dumas, Atlanta, GA, Ava (Will) Lee, Oxford, AL; brother, Jeffery (Marilyn) Rosser, Douglasville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
