Saundra Gadson Obituary

Saundra Benita Gadson, was born on May 26, 1963, in Cleveland, Ohio.  Saundra was the oldest child of the late Johnny B. Gadson and the late Bertha Cornelia DeRamus Gadson.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Saundra found Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Alabama City, Alabama.

Saundra began her early education in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Gadsden High School She matriculated to Talladega College, where she received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from South College in Knoxville, Tenn. She was an excellent researcher, analyst, and laboratory auditor with Lockheed-Martin and Bechtel Jacobs Company, LLC in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Bechtel Jacobs Engineering in Cincinnati, Ohio. Saundra was a superior Registered Nurse (RN) as acclaimed by many of her patients and colleagues. 

Saundra was an active member of the community. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  She was an accomplished nurse at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio, having retired in 2022. Saundra served her profession with honor and dignity.  She loved life and she loved people. Most of all she loved her parents, her girls, her sister, and her extended family. Saundra used her artistic gifts in a variety of ways: she loved to sing, she loved drawing and painting, and she loved to cook. Her cooking skills led her to create her own recipes and she enjoyed sharing her exquisite cuisines with others. Running track, traveling, and geocaching were among her favorite pastimes. She was multilingual (Spanish, German, and Russian). As a world traveler, she enjoyed meeting new people, and experiencing new places through the eyes of the locals that she met. Saundra’s life was a reflection of her passion, caring, and commitment to others.  She truly will be missed.

Her earthly journey ended Thursday Morning, December 29, 2022.

Saundra leaves to mourn two children, Michal Alexaundra Gadson of Chillicothe, OH and Asher Madison Gadson Farrow (Thomas) of McGuire AFB, New Jersey.   She also leaves to mourn a devoted and loving sister Attorney Jonnetta Danita Gadson of Chillicothe;  four aunts,  Dr. Tyna DeRamus Davis (Warren), and Dr. Brenda G. DeRamus Coleman of Montgomery, AL,  Mrs. Josephine Harrold and Mrs. Delores Gadson of Gadsden, AL; two Uncles, Wallace Gadson (Zell) of Gadsden, AL and Ranier Jharrod DeRamus of Montgomery, AL; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Saundra B. Gadson to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
