ShaKrystal Angelique Waites, affectionately known as “Angel/Muffy” is the beloved daughter to Terence Green and Kimberly Montgomery of Pell City, Alabama. Angel was born in Pell City on August 1, 1990, and made her heavenly ascension on Sunday May 14, 2023, at 32 years old.
Angel graduated from Pell City High School in 2008, where she was well known for her beautiful singing voice as a member of the PCHS choir. She literally had the voice of an angel that could soothe anyone’s soul. Her genuine love for all genres of music gave her a unique style with R&B being her first love. In addition to her musical talents, Angel also proved to be an exceptional writer and had an amazing way with words. She wrote beautiful poetry and received a Millenium Poet Award for one of her poems that was eventually published. Angel was also a sports FANATIC! She knew basketball and football better than anyone around. Her favorite teams to support were the NBA Boston Celtics and Alabama Crimson Tide football…ROLL TIDE!
Angel had the God-given ability to draw others to her. Many people felt safe sharing their problems, secrets and fears knowing she’d do her very best to help in whatever capacity she could. She showed respect to anyone whether she knew them or not. She never judged and always offered a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on for those in need. Angel would always give encouraging words whether in person or on social media. It was simply her pleasure to see others around her better and reaching their full potential. She loved her family with no boundaries and would do anything possible to lighten their load and bring joy. She deeply loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart, and they loved her back. At the sweet age of 17 Angel taught herself the daily routine of rehab and wound care so that she could commit herself to being the primary caregiver to her late grandfather James Waites who precedes her in death. As she is now re-united in Heaven with her grandfather, Angel leaves behind a host of loved ones who already deeply miss her presence.
It is evident why Shakrystal could earn such a name as Angel. She is a rare jewel that God blessed us with who truly lived by a code of loyalty, honesty, and dedication. By just being herself, she is truly everyone’s Angel. A one of a kind here on Earth, Angel was sent here to be the living example of how real angels bring joy and light to everyone else’s life. Today we celebrate Angel’s life and service to others with thanksgiving and praise as she gains her wings and takes her flight to our Heavenly Father.
