Shalon Rene (Covington) Hardwick

It is with deep sympathy we announce the passing of Ms. Shalon R. Hardwick of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the age of 49.  We ask that you keep her children, mother, sisters, grandchildren, and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Services are Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Abundant Life Church with Bishop Terry Jones, officiating.  Public viewing will be Friday, November 11, 2022, from 4-6 pm at Adams-Buggs Funeral Service 401 N 9th Street, Gadsden, AL 35901.

Shalon was born on April 18, 1973, to Debra Newby and Terance Covington in Toledo, OH.

Shalon was a member of Abundant Life Church, in Gadsden AL.

Shalon attended Gadsden High School and Gadsden State Community College. Shalon was happiest when surrounded by her family. She enjoyed cooking and singing. She loved everyone and always wanted to be a safe place for those that needed a confidant. 

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Idella Parks, Bettye Newby, Isabelle Covington; grandfather, Jake Covington; great-grandmother, Brownelle Parks; uncle, Emmitte Barnes; niece, Sharice Owens.

She is survived by her mother, Debra (Lawrence) Scott; father, Terence Covington; grandfather, Cartie Newby; children, son, Kristoffer Covington (Sean); daughter, Kristian Caudle (Antoine), son, Joel Hardwick; sisters, Terae (Jason) Chambers, Latrice (Antwayne) Sanders, and Neiel (William) Elston; grandsons, Stacey Prater, Laken Peterson, Nathan Gipson, Weston Gipson; nieces and nephews, Geoffrey (Crystal) Owens, Jaylan Aaron (LaTuara), Jordan Chambers, Chandler Sanders, Anaya Chambers, Landon Sanders, Mecca Elston-her best friend; great nieces and nephews, Kenzi Rowe, Kamden Owens, Keegan Owens, Lenox Aaron-her luv; special friends, Beverly (Tip) Williams, Arnethia Burnett, Joel and Kellie Hardwick, Sharon Wallace, Theresa Williams, and a host of aunties, uncles, and cousins;
