With deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Sheldon Maurice Ragland, II of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 28. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sheldon Maurice Ragland. II was born on February 25, 1995 to the union of Sheldon Maurice and Mackele Gardner Ragland, I, in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Lil' Sheldon, as he was referred to by many, was educated in the Gadsden City School System and graduated Gadsden City High School, Class of 2014.
You could say he never met a stranger, because he was going to find a way to know you some how. His outgoing jovial and loving personality made anyone around him feel at ease. It was hard not to love someone who's heart was honest, genuine and loving. If you were his friend, you were his friend regardless. He was forgiving and true.
Lil' Sheldon was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and carried many of the beliefs throughout his life. He learned many things as a Witness. Most of the tradework he was skilled at doing came from attending "quick-builds", which was were the majority of a kingdom hall would be built in a three-day weekend. He learned to be a skilled electrician, plumber and handyman.
If you were ever looking for Sheldon, you could find him somewhere having a goodtime, whether it was with family or friends. Laughs would definitely be had. He enjoyed playing and watching basketball and football. He was a huge Alabama fan and often showed-off his culinary and grilling skills any chance he got. His favorite past-time most of all was fishing. It was truly his happy place.
Lil' Sheldon went fishing Sunday, February 11, 2024 to a place of no more sorrow, no more pain, no more heart-ache and no more worries. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugene Ragland.
Those left to cherish his many memories are his wife, Mary Grace Ragland; children, Brayden Jacorian, Preslle O'Vontae, Phoenix O'Lanna; parents, Sheldon and Mackele Gardner Ragland, I; sister, Marissa Ragland; grandmother, Gwendolyn Ragland, all of Gadsden, AL; a host of uncles, aunts, great-uncles and aunts, cousins and many dear friends.
