With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Shirley Knight of Ashland, who traded time for eternity on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the age of 80.
Shirley Jane Tuck Knight was born on November 5, 1945, in Clay County, Alabama, to the late Buster Simmons and Viola Tuck.
Shirley had a love for growing beautiful flowers and vegetables, and she especially enjoyed canning the produce from her garden. She found joy in taking walks and was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Ashland, where she enjoyed attending church services.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buster Simmons and Viola Tuck; her husband, J. C. Knight; and her brother, Buck Tuck.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters, Mammie Sims (Steve) Johnson of Alexander City, Dianna Cameron of Gadsden, Mentoria (Melvin) Knight of Lincoln, and Nellie Ruth Knight (Charles) Cottingham of Millbrook; one son, Willie Frank Knight of Barfield; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Diana (Samuel) Williams of Sylacauga, Ethel Dutton of Antioch, Tennessee, and Lenoah (John) Walker of Sylacauga; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
