With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Sylvester Kelly of Lineville, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the age of 61.
Mr. Sylvester "Soup" Kelly's journey through life began on September 23, 1963. Known to the family as "Soup" he was the beloved son of Deacon George Kelly Sr. and the late Minister, Sally Ann S. Kelly.
As a youth and young adult, he attended Apostolic Faith Temple in Clay County; now known as New Life Christian Center, under the leadership of Bishop (Apostle) W. T. Traylor. Bishop Traylor is a phenomenal
world wind fire baptized man of God.
Sylvester pursued his education in the Clay County School System and would have been in the class of 1981.
Soup was a gentle soul with a loving heart. He placed God first and his family, including his nieces and nephews, above all else.
On February 4, 2025, his lovely mother's birthday, he answered the Master's call from Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation, in Jacksonville, Alabama.
It is his family's prayer that "Soup" rest in eternal peace. May he find comfort in the love he shared with his family on Earth. God in His special way at His perfect time picked from our midst this beautiful soul and added him to His heavenly garden with his other family members where his spirit, along with theirs, will bloom forever. Sylvester was preceded in death by his mother, Minister Sally Ann S. Kelly; three brothers, Albert, George, Jr., and Cecil Kelly and both maternal and paternal grandparents and aunts.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Memories of Sylvester "Soup" Kelly will forever be cherished in the heart of his father, Deacon George Kelly Sr. of Ashland; sister, Minister Doris K (David) Hunter of Lineville; brother, John Earl (Gwendolyn) Kelly of Ashland; uncles, John, Charles, and Bobby Lee Kelly; aunt, Christine Kelly; nieces, Jwannis Simmons, Veronica Hunter, Camelia Kelly, Jennifer Kelly, Felicia Kelly, Shonteega Cook, Arissa Kelly; nephews, David (Melissa) Hunter, Georgio Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Carlos Kelly, Casey Kelly, Quadier Cook, Kevin Cook; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
