Thomas J. Hayes

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Thomas J. Hayes of Ashland,  who traded time for eternity on Saturday,  November 4, 2023, at the age of 84. 

Thomas James Hayes was born on July 24, 1939, to Earlie Hayes and Lonnie Mae Craig Hayes in Ashland, Alabama.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a welder at a pipe shop.  He enjoyed dancing, cutting grass, and the chickens he raised.  He loved to watch Auburn football and was a member of Roseline Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife, Kathleen Whetstone Hayes of Ashland; children, Stanley (Elizabeth) Wilson, Glendale, AZ, Thomas (Tangie) Briskey, Saks, AL, Rhonda Sanchez, Boston, MA, Frederick (Felicia) Hayes, Millerville, Tommy (Marquita) Hayes, Anniston, AL,  Dotty (Christopher) Ackles, Ashland, AL, Cynthia Gaddis, Ashland, AL, Willie Hayes, Pennsylvania, Marlene Hayes (Clarence), Ashland, AL; daughter-in-law, Deloris Hayes, Anniston, AL, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; siblings, Earlene Street, Inez Smiley, both of Ashland, AL, Martha (Edward Earl) Johnson, Goodwater, AL, Gay Dean Maxwell, Birmingham, AL, Michael Hayes, Oxford, AL, Allen (Danette) Hayes, St. Augustine, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Earlie and Lonnie Mae Hayes; two sons, William Hayes, and Bernard Hayes; three grandsons, Quinton Few, Kendrick James Hayes, and Frederick James Hayes, Jr.; his four brothers Willie James Hayes, Alkerry Hayes, Almon Lee Hayes, and Billie Ray Hayes; two sisters, Mary Ruth Hayes, and Eula Gay Gaddis; and one niece, Stacy Hayes.
