Valerie Denise (Traylor) Ruffin

With heartfelt sympathy we announce the earthly transition of Valerie Traylor Ruffin of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the age of 64.

alerie Denise Traylor Ruffin was born on March 26, 1959, in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Olivia Traylor Harkins and the late Virgil Harkins.

Denise confessed Christ at an early age while attending Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G. Garrett.

Denise obtained her education with the Gadsden City School System, she later furthered her education at Gadsden Business College in Gadsden, AL.

Denise was loved by many.  She was very talented at doing hair, cooking, and sewing.  She was an avid reader as well.  Her sense of humor kept everyone full of laughter.

Denise married Bobby Lee Ruffin in the early 1980s and to this union, three kids were born.

On Sunday, September 24, 2023, the Lord entered his beautiful garden and picked a humble servant by the name of Valerie Denise and carried her from this worldly pain and grief into his eternal rest.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Olivia Harkins; five siblings, Leophus and Cleophus Miller (twins), Milton and Ricky Dan Traylor; two aunts, Joyce Hill and Geraldine Phillips; two uncles, Ed Louis Lindsey and David Jr Traylor; cousin, Regina Lindsey; and her beloved grandmother, Bessie Adams Croft

She leaves a magnitude of memories to be cherished in the lives of her three children, Andre (Mauricette) Ruffin, Michael (Lauren) Ruffin and Pamala Ruffin; nine grandchildren, Kay, Shaun, Jaylyn, J'leah, Deandre, Jakiya, Alaina, Maleigha, and Alivia; ten great-grandchildren, Demarion, Miasia, Reshad, Kali and Khloe (twins), Dillion, Malayiah, JaMichael, and Bellamy; a sister, Agnes (Cleo) Guice; three nieces, one nephew, special cousin, Emmetterress Peeples, a special friend Ruth Stegall and a host of cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
