With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Verbice Wood of Lineville, who traded time for eternity on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at the age of 88. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and paryers during this time of sorrow.
Verbice Wycoff Wood was born in Ashland, Clay County, Alabama on February 26, 1938 to the late Glover and Ida Bell Noel Wycoff.
She confessed Christ at an early age at Springhill Baptist Church and remained a life long member, while active she served on the Missionary Society.
Verbice was educated in the Clay County School System and graduated from the Clay County Training School class of 1957.
Verbice enjoyed her soap operas, General Hospital, cooking and baking her red velvet cakes.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Lincoln Bass, Sr. To this union was blessed with five sons. She later united with Floyd Wood.
She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Wood; sons, Lincoln Bass, Jr., Robert Earl Bass, and Fredrick Lee Bass.
She is survived by her sons, Charles (Connie) Bass, Terry (Jacquelyn) Bass, both of Lineville, AL; grandchildren, Constance Bass, Jacksonville, AL, Charlene (Allen) Rose, Smith Station, AL, Charles (Ashley) Bass, Prattville, AL, Terry (Jass Ford) Bass, Odenville, AL, Chrish Adair, Lincoln, AL, Lexius Bass, Montgomery, AL, Shmekia (Mysheia) Zimmermon, Chocccolocco, AL; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Wycroff, Lineville, AL, Pauline Wycoff, Los Angeles, CA, James (Glenda) Wycoff, Lineville, AL, Willie (Vera) Wycoff, Birmingham, AL; aunt, Frances (Alton) Johnson, Anniston, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
