It is with heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Verner L. Herron of Attalla, AL, who transitioned on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 73. We ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Verner Lee Herron was born in Gadsden, AL to Charity Garner and Eugene S. Herron, and was later adopted and raised by Mr. Wilbert Harrison.
He attended Carver High School and was drafted by the US Army in 1966. He obtained his GED while in the Army. He retired from Thompson Construction, Gadsden, Al in 2018.
Verner was a devoted member of 16th Street Baptist Church. He sang with the Male Chorus under Pastor Eddie Ethridge, until his health failed.
Verner married Ivarlean Stover on December 25, 2005.
His special hobbies were grilling, reading, fishing, playing spades, and spending time with family.
Verner departed this life on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at RMC in Anniston, AL.
Verner was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Charity Harrison; father, Eugene S. Herron, and Son, Anthony L. Ray.
Verner leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Ivarlean "Mickie" Herron, Ridgeville, Al; son, Verner Lee Herron, II, Houston, Tx; daughters, Tonya Agyemang and Sonia Williams, Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Roy (Emma) Gibson, Clarksville, TN, Malachi, and Sarai Herron, Houston, TX, Matthew and Michaela, Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchild, Roy Gibson IV; sisters, Janice Clifton, Felica Harrison, Regina Herron, all of Gadsden, Al; brothers, Minister Shelley Herron, Minister Wilbur (Michelle) Harrison, Warren Harrison, all of Gadsden, Al; five sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law, and special cousins, Stanley (Donna) Wells, Cincinnati, OH, Don (Angie) Garner, Gadsden, AL, Herman (Linda) Garner, Gadsden, AL; very special and dear friends, Betty Billingsley, Attalla, AL, Annie Jean Guyton, Gadsden, AL, Rev.
