Wendell Horace King

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Wendell King of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the age of 57.

Wendell Horace King was born the last child to the late Mr. Author Williams and Mrs. Sarah Ruth King on December 27, 1968.

Wendell was educated at Emma Samson where he played Football for the Rebels. He was a big fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.

He was preceded in death by parents, sister, Brenda King; brothers, Douglas King, Benjamin King, James King, and Jerry King.

He leaves to cherish his memories his only child, Wendell King Cothern ,Jr.;  grandchildren, Camoni Cothern, Armoni Cothern, Damoni Cothern; sisters, Silva (James) Carlisle and Violet King; brothers, Larry King, Robert King, Nathaniel (Patronila) King, and Stanley (Sherrickia) King; uncle; Johnnie (Chevelle) Morris; aunt, Clair Mae Baxter; sister-in-laws, Deborah King, and Diane King, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
