Wilbur Swindall Obituary

It is with deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Mr. Wilbur Aaron Swindall of Gadsden, AL, who transitioned on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the age of 83.  We ask that you pray with us and keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Wilbur Aaron “FUZZ” Swindall was born on August 14, 1938.  He was the last of eleven children to be born here on earth and the last to be born into heaven.  His heavenly birthday took place on October 2, after an extended illness.
His dad passed when he was five years old, and he worked hard farming to help provide food for his family.  He went to church and served over the years in many capacities; from working with youth, being a deacon, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the choir.  Until recently becoming homebound, he was teaching his men’s Sunday School class at his church, Riverbend Baptist.  He loved sports and played football during his years at Etowah High School.  He went to work at the local Steel Plant when he was nineteen and was there until it closed.  While he was there, he served as a union representative, received training in fire and rescue, and got his degree from Jacksonville State University.  His last position there was caster maintenance.
He met his bride-to-be at South Eleventh Street Baptist and they married on September 26, 1958.  Together they worked hard both in and out of the home to provide for and raise their children.  Their lives primarily revolved around their church, family, friends, community, and of course each other.  Besides serving in his church, he also served his community as a Councilman for Rainbow City.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn B. Swindall; his parents, George Troy Swindall and Mattie M. Swindall; eight brothers and sister and their spouses; and a brother and sister who passed in childhood.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Tammy) Swindall; daughters, Vicki (Marnol) Davis, Karen (Jose’) Rodriguez and Carolina Swindall; grandchildren, Ann-Margaret Swindall, Whitney (Craig) Wood, Leslie Hogeland, Megan Davis (Patrick Ray), Alli (Kyle) Neeley, and Aaron (Lyndsie) Davis; great-grandchildren, Tristan Hogeland, Harlow Wood, and Stone Neeley and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Labreeska Greene and Mcguffey’s Rehab First.
