With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Willie Estell (Crook) Diamond of Piedmont, who surrendered to the call of the Lord with full submission on the morning of Thursday, May 29, 2025, nine days after her 97th birthday. Please keep her family and community lifted up in your prayers!
Willie Estell Diamond was born on May 20, 1928 to the late Samuel Crook, Sr. and Olivia Green Crook in Duke, Alabama.
Estell married Hollis Diamond, Jr. and from this union three children were born, Hollis III, Lydia and Mary (Aggie).
Estell accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Duke, Alabama. Following the family’s relocation to Piedmont, she joined Mount Pleasant CME Church. She was a true servant of God, singing in the Choir, Member of the Lizzy Alexandra Mission, President of the District Mission, Organized the bricking of the Church, Harvest Tea, the Chandeliers in the church, padding and adding family names to the church pews, and obtaining the cushions for kneeling at the altar. She often provided transportation to District meetings and Church engagements. She loved her Church family and was always willing to assist and help with any project. On the Fourth Sunday of every month she attended Thankful Baptist Church where she had a special seat next to her bonus children to hear the Male Chorus. She would prepare a dinner for the Male Chorus members once a year. She loved to cook and bake; you could always get a meal at her home.
Estell was a domestic worker for many years. She obtained employment with Platex and once the company relocated, she was employed by Bostrom Seating, where she continued to work until retirement. Once again, she was known for her baking, the Plant Manager often requested her famous Chocolate Pie.
Estell was a member of the August Rose Chapter #450 Order of the Eastern Star and Piedmont Senior Citizens Group. She loved to travel venturing to New Orleans, San Francisco, California, Hoover Dam/Las Vegas Nevada, Hawaii, Australian, and many other cities within the United States. Her favorite hobby was baking and watching the Atlanta Braves.
She departed this life on Thursday, May 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Sr. and Olivia Crook; her husband, Hollis Diamond, Jr.; brothers, Joseph Crook and Samuel Crook; sisters, Deanna Griffie and Florine Rollins, and a special friend, Leon Garrett.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Hollis Diamond, III, Piedmont, Alabama; daughters, Lydia Taylor-Bellinger (Larry), Oakland, California, Mary (Jerry) Harbour, Piedmont, Alabama; sisters-in-laws, Annie Grace Adair, Piedmont, Alabama, and Mary Massey, San Pablo, California; grandchildren, Audrea Bellinger, Missouri City, Texas Desmond (Tiffaney) Harbour, Montgomery, Alabama, Derrick (Sherry) Harbour, Piedmont, Alabama, Chris Diamond, Mobile, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Keonna, DeShaun, Evan and Dylan; bonus children/grandchildren, Ann Frances, Reggie, Ashley, Reggie, Jr., Margaret, Gaynel, Clara Ann, Diane, Vince, Christian, and Harritt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
