With heartfelt sympathy,  we announce the earthly transition of Willie Russell of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Thursday,  July 25, 2024 at the age of 61.

Mr. Willie James Russell was born on March 21, 1963, in Centre, Alabama the youngest of seven children born to the late Mrs. Christine Hendrix Russell and Tommy Russell. 

Willie departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Gadsden, Alabama at the age of 61. 

Willie James Russell was a resident of Gadsden, Alabama.

Willie attended Litchfield High School in Gadsden, Alabama where he also studied to become a craftsman and later graduated from Cherokee County High School in 1982.  After completing his education, Willie went on to work in various backgrounds and was a former floor tech at Coosa Valley Health Care Center in Glencoe, Alabama.

Willie embodied a lively personality, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, he loved music, dancing, and being around family and friends. Willie was full of JOY and HUMOR! 

In addition to his parents, Christine Hendrix Russell and Tommy Russell, Willie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dave, and Martha Hendrix;  three brothers, Tommy Russell Jr., Wallace Russell, and Herbert Russell; one sister, Annie Lee Cowser; one niece, Annette Cowser; one great nephew, Vaylon Dobbs, and uncles and aunts.

Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories, his son, Willie Brown, Marietta, Ga; two daughters, Kandy Brown,  Atlanta, GA, and Shameka Brown, Atlanta, GA; one stepson, Jemicheal Morris, Gadsden, AL; one stepdaughter, Jelisa Spearman, Gadsden, AL;  fiancé, Felicia Renea Morris, Gadsden, AL; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jessie (William) Clay, Gadsden, AL and Estella Russell, Cartersville, GA; one surviving uncle, James Hendrix, Centre, AL; one surviving aunt, Sarah Driver, Rome, GA; two brothers-in-law, William Clay, Birmingham, AL and Walter Cowser, Gadsden, AL; eight nieces, six nephews, twelve great-nieces, fourteen great-nephews; two special friends, Danny Green and Bruce Redwin, and a host of great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
