It is with deep sympathy, we announce the passing of Williene Wallace of Gadsden, AL, who passed peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 74. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
In loving memory of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Williene “Baba” Wallace, born on March 20, 1950, to the late John Adams Wright and the late Amy Jones, she was a shining light to all who knew her, radiating love, compassion, and warmth throughout her life.
She confessed Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist, under the pastorage of Reverend Fred Lawler. As a dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, she found great fulfillment in her service as an usher, a choir singer, and a devoted member of the kitchen committee. Through her unwavering faith, she touched the lives of many, offering kindness and support to those in need. Her generous spirit knew no bounds, and she was always the first to lend a helping hand or share a comforting word.
Williene and Edward were united in holy matrimony on October 15, 1967. During this union, three children were born.
Williene was a remarkable woman whose passions defined her journey. She cherished her family above all else, pouring her heart into every moment spent with them. Whether she was cheering on her grandsons, Devon and Isaiah, from the sidelines of their sporting events, or sharing laughter over a friendly game of spades, her joy was intense and infectious. Her love for cooking and fishing often brought her family together, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
After an esteemed 30-year career at Tyson Foods, Baba retired, but her legacy of love and service continued to thrive in her community. She was a giver, a nurturer, and a beacon of light in her family and beyond. Her laughter, kind soul, and steadfast dedication to those she loved will be profoundly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Louis Wallace; her mother, Amy Malone; and her father, John Adams Wright.
Baba gained her wings on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 74. She reunited with her mother, Amy Malone, her father, John Wright, and her husband, Edward Louis Wallace. Though our hearts ache at her absence, we will carry forward the memories of her laughter, her unconditional love, and her spirit of giving. Rest in peace, Dear Baba, you have left a permanent mark on our hearts, and your legacy of love will live on in each of us forever.
Williene is survived by her loving children, Edward Zachary Wallace, Sharon Wallace, Edward Lemont Wallace, Tracy Howard; her adoring grandchildren, Qwintin Kirby, Dionca (Marcus) Calloway, Chaniqua Wallace, Ashleigh (D’Antei) Ash, Vinshad Vincent, Devon Wallace, and Isaiah Wallace; her siblings, Ester (Willie) Brown, Linda (John) Oliver, Sylvia Lollar, Marilyn Woods, Connie Madden, James (Brenda) Malone, and Carla (Sammy) Dixon; two step-children, Cornelius Washington, and Tony Williams; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were fortunate enough to have experienced her love and kindness.
