With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the earthly transition of Zera Denise Lawrence of Gadsden, who traded time for eternity on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the age of 52.
Zera Denise Lawrence was born on September 11,1972 in Gadsden, Alabama to Robert Lee Jenkins and Lizzie Jenkins.
Zera was educated in the Gadsden City Schools System and graduated from Etowah High School. Zera obtained an Associate’s Degree from the University of Phoenix. Zera traveled the world, and her professional life included having been a General Manager in the Restaurant Industry. She enjoyed event planning/coordinating and crafting. Zera was a way maker, a loving wife, mom and devoted grandmother.
Zera confessed Christ at an early age at James Temple AOH. She attended Sweet Haven Holy Church of God in Fort Drum, New York, Fresh Anointing United Pentecostal Church in St. Roberts, Missouri, and in recent years she attended Abundant Life Church in Gadsden, Al.
On July 9th, 1989, Zera was joined in Holy Matrimony to Barry Lawrence Sr., and to this union two children were born.
Zera was preceded in death by her grandparents, two siblings, Robert and Africa Poole, and nephew Lavarius.
Zera departed this life surrounded by her family on August 5th, 2025.
Zera leaves to cherish her memories to her loving husband, Barry Lawrence, Sr.; two children, Barry (Chardanya) Lawrence, Jr., Gadsden, AL and Lanicia (Amber) Lawrence, Killeen, Tx; four grandchildren, Marquell Lawrence, Kylie Girdy-Terell, Ilias Lawrence and Jhelani Lawrence; her mother, Lizzie Jenkins; her father, Robert Lee Jenkins; siblings, Bobby (Rachel) Jenkins, Dorothy (Johnny) Cosper and Larry Densmore, all of Gadsden, AL; one brother-in-Law, Jeff (Pamela) Lawrence, Gadsden, AL; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Cathy Tuck.
