Emogene Southerlin was born in Cherokee County, Alabama to the late Lillie Mae Brooks and Elijah Southerlin on December 28, 1935.

Emogene confessed Christ at an early age and served all her life at Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Turkeytown. Emogene worked in several capacities at the church and served unselfishly whenever she was asked. She graciously accepted her position as Missionary President and redily passed the position to the next willing volunteer.

Emogene was a pillar of the community and helped set a foundation with her welcoming and loving spirit. Anyone who came in contact with Emogene received the same affectionate attention she showed to everyone. Her caring spirit will live on through her children and generations to follow.

Emogene took her rest on Saturday, April 1, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph H. Wyatt; daughter, Lafreda Wyatt;  son, Thomas Wyatt; granddaughter, Alyse Wyatt; grandsons, John Hardy, Jr., Breland Wyatt, Troy Wyatt; sisters, Jewel Hall, Jeanette Nix, Edna Southerlin, Willie Mae Wyatt, Mamie Lee Allen, Martha and brother, Bryant Southerlin.

Emogene leaves her most cherished memories to her loving children, Emma Hardy, Jacqueline E. Wyatt, Juanita S. Wyatt, Tony L. (Ann) Wyatt, Mitchell (Marie) Wyatt,  Joel Kenneth (Wannica) Wyatt, Steven (Kathy) Wyatt, Jonathan (Pamela) Wyatt, Gerald (Hanna) Wyatt, Valerie (George) Wyatt-Williams, Walter S. Wyatt;  twenty-five grandchildren, Roslyn Hardy, Reginald Hardy, Brian Hardy, Tyler Wyatt, Kevin Covington, Jai Covington, Joey Wyatt, Somer Wyatt-Sandridge, Ryan Wyatt, Justin Wyatt, Amber Najm, andrea Ablordeppey, Azhley Byers, Denzel Preslar, Emilio Wyatt, Kendall Wyatt, Darius Wyatt, Jaylin Wyatt, Destiny Wyatt, Sabian Wyatt, Rashelle Wyatt, Jozaira Wyatt, Chasity Wyatt, Shaniya Wyatt, Davin Wyatt, Payton Slaughter; twenty-six great grandchildren; sister, Eunice Moore; sister-in-law, Nallie Wyatt; special friends, Vennie Sue Foster, Clara Coats, Mary Sue Grissom and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

May the true God comfort you and your family with His promise to raise the dead at John 5:28,29 and to undo all the pain and sorrow that death causes at Revelation 21:3-5.
