Ms. Marie Dorothy Leach, affectionately known as "Big Red", was born May 14, 1937 to the union of Howard and Leola Barsh Lancaster in Wedowee, Alabama. 


 At an early age Marie accepted Christ as her personal savior, and united with the local church. In later years she relocated to Gadsden, Alabama, and united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Valley Street, Mission Baptist Church, and True Faith Revival Center were she worked faithfully on the Mother Board until her health declined, and could not attend.

  Marie attended Carver High School in the 1950's. She met and married Mr. Thomas Usher, and to this union 4 children were born. In later years she met and married Mr. James Leach and together they raised 3 children.

 Preceding her in death were her parents; her children's father, Thomas Usher; two daughters, Onetha Walker, Alethea Palmore; one son, Thomas Usher Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Lancaster.
  On November 14, 2019, Marie answered her heavenly call, and entered into eternal rest, until the coming of her savior Jesus Christ.

 Precious memories will be cherished by two sons, Rev. Clay (Renee) Usher, James (Tamika) Leach, both of Gadsden, AL; two daughters, Priscilla Leach, Indiana, Felicia (James) Keen, Gadsden, Al; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Amos (Joann) Lancaster, Robert Lancaster, Bob Lancaster, all of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Susan Moore, Ann Lancaster, both of Atlanta GA, Louise Leach, Gadsden, AL; one uncle, Charlie Barsh, Lagrange, GA; a special cousin raised together as sisters, Lonnie Mae Miller, Gadsden, AL; two sons-in-law, John Walker, Orlando, FL, William Palmore, Gadsden, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
 

Celebration of Life will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2019 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Larry G. Weathers officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:00p.m. Thursday, November 22, 2019 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.
