The Obituary


Walter Quinton Freeman was born June 12, 1960 to the union of Walter and Mary Stovall Freeman in the Turkeytown Community of Gadsden, Etowah County, AL . At an early age, he confessed faith in Christ and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Turkeytown, AL.

His formal education was received in the city of his birth. He was a graduate of Gaston High School, attended Gadsden State Junior College and was a certified welder.  Walter enjoyed using his  welding skills in his body shop, but he was also an excellent cook, selling some of the best bar-b-que in town out of his food truck known as Lil’ Walter’s.

His busy life came to a sudden end on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Billingsley; and brother, Milton Freeman.


Walter leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Monica Freeman; children, Sophia Loyd, Maria (Titus) Porter, Marcus (Felicia) Freeman, Tiffany (Ozzie) Solis, Chris (Janisha) Stovall, Cory (Breiona) Mack, Christopher Mack; grandchildren, Deivione, Beyonce’, Braylon, Marco, Zyonna, Almani, Zoe, Cayson, Jaden, Armonte’, V’Aires, Jr., Eden, Chrislyn, Dontavius, Izaiah, Shanekia; siblings, Shirley (Farley) Granger, Emma (Charles) Moore, Bobby (Evelyn) Freeman, Charles (Janice) Freeman; brother-in-law, David (Maude) Whatle; sister-in-law, Jacqueline (Lavon) Bonner; aunt, Zora Robinson; special friends, Willie Smith, Calvin Turner, Nathan Carter, Jessie George, Eddie Charles; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.


Celebration of Life will be 1:00p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Bapstist Church, Attalla, Rev. Jonathan Granger, officiating. Entombment will follow at Crestwood Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:00p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.
