Music by The Piano Brothers

Shirley Anne Crook was born March 9, 1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Crook, Jr. She joined the Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church as a youth. She had a flair for music fr music and learned to play the piano at an early age. She employed her considerable talent for the Junior Choir.

She possessed a quiet demeanor. She was studious, possessing a noteworthy aptitude for academics. She was skipped twice in secondary school, and in 1955, at the age of sixteen, Shirley became a proud graduate of Carver High School in Gadsden, Alabama.

History indicates that in the 1950's rigid de facto and de jure Jim Crow pratices were in effect and obstinately enforced,  limiting educational and occupational opportunities for African Americans. In 1959, Shirely Crook graduated from Howard University with a degree in business.

Shirely was employed by the Federal Government in Washington, D. C. and in Atlanta, GA for the next thirty-five years. She served in multiple branches of the government and excelled in various capacities.

She loved to travel. She particularly enjoyed the family vacations every summer. Shirely also traveled to Western Europe and parts of the African continent.

Her attention was turned to her parents and family after her retirement. Even though, Shirley visited many of the major cities in the American Southeast.

Shirley loved her life and kept the faith. She was summoned home on June 11, 2020. She was preceded her death by her brother, William III.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Betty and Ella; brother-in-law, Salim; one sister-in-law, Vera; one niece, Kim; cousins, Tazan, Selena, LeRone, Rayshaun, Jabriel, and Tazan III; and a host of other relatives and friends.
