Mrs. Paula Guice-Nichols was born August 15, 1955 to her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hosea & Alyce Guice in Gadsden, Alabama.

Paula grew up in Gadsden and attended Gadsden High School. At an early age she accepted Christ and joined Union Baptist Church. She later joined New Destiny Christian Church under Pastor Steve Smith. After moving to Murfreesboro, she joined The Olive Branch Church, where she served diligently until her illness no longer allowed her.

Paula was a kind and loving person and would give you her last. When she didn’t have that to give, she made of way! - always making their needs her priority. She really had a special love for children and especially for her family.

On this life’s journey, she met and married the love of her life, John E. Nichols. Together they reared, in love, four beautiful children.

Paula was preceded in death by her father, Hosea Guice; two brothers, Yul Guice, Hosea Guice, Jr. and Leon Thomas.

Paula answered her call to glory with victory in her soul on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

She leaves her most cherished memories to her loving husband of 33 years, John E. Nichols; four beautiful children, Darius Guice, Deles Mewete, both of Gadsden, Antwanita Rosco, Miami, FL, Dondrette Nichols, Jacksonville, FL; mother, Alyce Thomas; four sisters, her twin, Paulette Byrd, Phoenix, AZ, Gwenell Guice, Juanda Madden, Loretta(Kenton)Wright, all of Gadsden; three brothers, Maxie(Tammi)Guice, Rickey Guice, Steven(Earlene)Thomas; God-daughter, Laura Hawkins-Boley; sixteen grandchildren, three great-granchildren; brother-in-law, Henry Nichols, Gadsden; sisters-in-law, Cecilia Evans, Gadsden, Laura(Randy)Hughes, Fayette, AL; uncle, Carlton Sullivan, Capital Heights, MD; special friends, Annie Ruth Guyton, Demetrius(John)Bradford, Josephine(Terrell)Martin, Kevin & Sylvia Ferguson, Sharon Russell, all of Gadsden, Bobby & Linda Brown, Denise & Kenny Roper, Mr. Ben Haynes, Jean Wade, Mark & Rebecca Johnson, all of Murfreesboro, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends too numerous to name.

A life well lived is a precious gift of hope and strength and grace, from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place, it’s filled with moments sweet and sad, with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared and laughter through the years. A life well lived is a legacy of joy and pride and pleasure, loving, lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure.
