Mattie Lee Davis was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. George and Doris Lee Long Davis, Jr., on February 15, 1946.

She was educated in the Colbert County School System and graduated from Sterling High School in Sheffield, AL. In later years, she attended Gadsden Business College and obtained her degree as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant.

She worked for many years as a CNA at McGuffey’s Healthcare and Rehab until retirement. Afterwards, she utilized her time devoting and spending time with her grandchildren, especially by going to the movies with them to see action-packed films.

Mattie enjoyed watching her Westerns and working puzzle books. She was also a nifty card player, excelling in spades, bid whist and solitaire.

Mattie departed this life after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nathaniel Davis.

She leaves her most cherished memories to her loving daughter, Tawana A. Davis (Derrick) Augusta, GA; devoted grandson, Reginald D. Davis; two granddaughters, Salandria G. Davis, Darnesha A. Thornton; great-grandson, Gabriel P. Stock; sisters, Hazel Nell Davis, JoAnn Davis, Jamaica, NY; brothers, Jim (Cora) Long, Chicago, IL, Arthur J. (Sheliah) Davis, Nashville, TN, George (Arminia) Davis, III, Birmingham, AL; nieces, Monique Long, Chanda J. Davis, Chrisilia (Basheer) Bristow, Christina & Trinity Davis; nephews, James Bradley Long, Derrick Davis,  Lionel Lea, CJ Davis; great nieces, Brandle Blakney, Jillian Long, Bailey Bristow; great nephew, Brayden Bristow; devoted cousin and friend, Royal Lena Pointer; special friends of both Mattie and Tawana – forever, long lasting friendships - Tara Holston, Katrena Flambo, Frances Haley and Terry Yow.
