Ms. Dovie L. McCrary, 77 of Albertville, passed on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

She is survived by her family.

Visitation is 4-6p.m. Friday, September 7 at St.Paul

Celebration of Life Service is 10a.m.on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary
Baptist Church in Albertville, Alabama. Interment following at Grace Hill Cemetery.

Dovie Loretta McCrary was born on December 6, 1940 in Hartford, Geneva County, Alabama. She was the only daughter of Bennie Roberts and Lessie Mae Williams.

Loretta, as she was affectionately known, was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She was a lifelong participant with the Missionary Society, Senior Choir and numerous other departments in the church. Loretta was also licensed in ministry.

Loretta had a great love for the Lord. She was a magnificent teacher, loved to write songs, poems and spent hours doing research about the Bible. She always had an open heart and door for anyone in need.

The character of our mother was always on display. Because of the love she had for people, many just called her Aunt Retta or Mommy Retta.

She leaves behind a host of friends too numerous to name.  Solomon the wisest man that ever lived asked the question, “who can find a virtuous woman?” Our Mother was a virtuous woman and her price is far above rubies.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She leaves those to cherish her memories, seven children, Theresa Simmons, Warren Robins, GA, Clarance Slaughter of Florida, Christine Roberts, William Roberts, both of Albertville AL, Jerome Roberts, Meridian, MS, Alethia Ahmed-Parkin, Colleen McCrary, both of Baldwin,  NY; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one niece; three aunts; her ex-husband, Cornelius McCrary, Gadsden AL; many other cousins, nieces, nephews and a tremendous group of friends and church family.

Our dear Sister, Theresa: Your mother fought a long, hard fight, and we know that you & Prophet sacrificed so much & so many times over the years. However, you did it with joy, because that's what love looks like!

At the end of each life is a legacy of love and memories. Hold tight to those memories…. Lean on each other for support. And look to God’s Word, the Bible, for comfort and strength. 1 Peter 5:7 encourages; “Throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”
