Michael Todd Woods was born in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama on October 27, 1971 to the late Annie Lou Woods and Willie Morris Gamble. He departed this life on Saturday April 18, 2020 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Michael confessed Christ at an early age at Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Tommie Lewis. He was a treasured choir member and beloved and efficient parking attendant.

“Sandman” as he was affectionately called by all of his loved ones, was a graduate of Litchfield High School, Class of 1992. He will be remembered the most for his outgoing personality and his great dance moves at a Litchfield High School pep rallies.

“Sandman” continued to assist with the band after he graduated. He would accompany them wherever they traveled for games, competitions and parades. He was an all-around cheerful, kind and helpful person. He regularly assisted his Uncle “Bam” on their excursions and helping the elderly and needy in the communities. He also helped his Uncle George and cousins at Woods Transportation as a Travel Aid. When “Sandman” was able to be still enough, you could find him in the kitchen cooking up something and nobody could out do his fried chicken and cornbread.  

“Sandman” boarded the evening train bound for bright glory to join his parents, grandparents, George and Georgia Ann Thomas Woods, Bradie Seal and a very special uncle, Billy Ray “Bam” Woods.

Michael leaves to cherish is loving memories his sisters, Vickie E. Woods, Sophia L. Woods, Debra A. (Roy) Ingram, Cherie S. (Kelvin) Peterson, all of Atlanta, GA, Linda D. (Donald) Wright, Marsheala E. Woods, Gadsden AL; brothers, Frederick J. Woods, Timothy Parker, Gadsden, AL, Gerald Parker, Atlanta GA; cousins that were raised as his sisters and brothers, Tina Woods, Stephanie (Tyrone) Reddick, Atlanta, GA, Andrel ‘Yodie’ Ray, Tony ‘Nanny’ Almond, Jr., Derrick (Geneva) Woods, Takia (Kia) Lipscomb, Jeffery and Brandy Smith, Gadsden AL; aunts, Mamie Woods, Atlanta GA, Barbara Woods, Georgia Ann Woods, Shirley Woods, Annie Ruth Guyton, Gadsden, AL, nieces and nephews, Cherika Woods, Kendrick (Alexis) Wright, Lataura ‘Tese’ Wright, Kiyva Richardson, Drevin Cobb, Darius Collins, Myeisha Crabb, Makyhia Peterson; great-nieces and nephews, Jashon Chinn, Cameron Williams, Ceniyah Williams, Tracionna ‘Moosey’ Jones, Tracy ‘Ju-Ju’ Jones, William Smith, Charleston Smith, Kendrick Wright, Jr., Kaiden Wright, Kaison Wright, Miles and Milan Adkinson, Heaven Scott; very special brother Roderick Orr; a host of other relatives and dear friends.

 

Viewing will be 4:00-6:00p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service. Graveside Celebration will be 2:00p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Pastor Larry G. Weathers will preside.

Expressing my deepest sympathy. Can’t express the feeling in my heart for the family. But through our faith we’re going to get through these difficult times. Love all of you and hold on to God’s Unchanging Hand. He will be missed hanging around here and there, especially at ABC. Love all of you!
