With heartfelt sympathy we announce the passing of Mr. Cleanthes Oliver Brewster, Sr., who transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the age of 42.

Cleanthes was born on June 13, 1978 to the union of the late Dock Nowell and the late Chloe Brewter in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama. He received his education in the Gadsden City School System and graduated from Gadsden High School class of 1997. After high school, he attended Virginia College in Chattanooga, TN, where he received a degree in Culinary Arts. 

Cleanthes united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Jennifer Ager on February 15, 2002.

Some will remember Cleanthes for his work at the Greater Gadsden Housing Authority and others will remember how much he enjoyed watching his beloved Alabama football and playing Madden and Call of Duty. He worshipped often with the Henry Street Church of Christ. 

Cleanthes is survived by his wife, Jennifer Brewster, Chattanooga, TN; children, Amaiyah Brewster, Cleanthes Brewster, Jr., both of Gadsden, AL; siblings, Sumner Brewster, Evvie Brewster, Dock W. (Wanda) Nowell, Jr., Darrell Hollenquest, all of Gadsden, AL; nieces and nephews, Justice Brewster, Mobile, AL, Melania Wesley, Birmingham, AL Justin Brewster,Julendria Nowell, Jordan Nowell, all of Gadsden, AL; aunt, Rita Brewster, Gadsden, AL; father-in-law, Hugh Miller, Gadsden, AL; sisters-in-law, Jessica Mathis, Mississippi, Elizabeth Ager, Chattanooga, TN, Jasmine Sampson, Janell Sampson, both of Knoxville, TN; a host of other relatives and many dear friends. 

 

Celebration of Life will be 12 Noon Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service with Pastor Tyson Burwell presiding. Viewing will be 4:00-6:00p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Etowah Chapel of Adams-Buggs Funeral Service.

Anthony, you’re truly missed. The last time I seen you was last year for thanksgiving and we was all doing karaoke and you recorded us all having a great time. Your smile, your laughter, and your love will forever be remembered. Fly high Anthony and My condolences goes out to the lovely family and to your wife and children’s. Sorry for this terrible lost.
